- JUNKMAIL SQUARED - SOLO EXHIBIT NOWhere Limited presents:
The All Roads Project
Elisha Sarti is a painter who works with acrylics, collage, found objects and colored pencil on a variety of substrates. Her imagery references advertisements, product packaging and pictures collected from the Internet. Her work's textures often mimic nature’s deteriorating effects on machine-made items. For the ongoing series "Junkmail Squared," Sarti paints visual odes to disposable mass media like discarded menus, tabloid magazines and dish detergent labels on handmade paper discs she fabricates from reconstituted junkmail.
In addition to working as an artist, Sarti is co- founder / co- director at NOWhere Limited – Contemporary Art, a retailer and publisher of fine art prints and other artists’ multiples. In Winter 2012, she moved from Boulder, Colorado to New York City, along with her husband artist Scott Lickstein, and Tycho, the dog who acts more like a cat. | About The All Roads Project
NOWhere Limited's All Roads Project is a new experiment in alternative exhibition space. Conceived with a "waste not want not" mentality, artists Elisha Sarti and Scott Lickstein, co-founders of NOWhere Limited, converted their SUV into Chelsea's smallest art space. "Almost exactly one year ago, we moved to New York City and made a habit of attending the weekly Thursday night openings in the Chelsea art district. This behavior led to a strong desire to include our sensibilities into the mix. Week after week, we'd park in the neighborhood until it dawned on us that we already had a space - albeit very small - in which to showcase the art that we care about most. In the coming weeks we will be holding one night solo exhibits in our bright red Jeep featuring work from artists in New York City and beyond. Visitors are able to view paintings and sculpture and buy curbside from the comfort of their personal mobile device." - Scott Lickstein & Elisha Sarti Full report and photos of the inaugural All Roads Project Exhibit: Two Heads are Better than One by Don Porcella are: here Several more exhibits are planned in the coming weeks.
