Morgan Slade – Culver City

The mixed media photographic work of Morgan Slade is the current show at Billy Shire Fine Arts.

Morgan Slade - Assize of Arms

There is a seamless mix of traditional art materials in these primarily photographic works. It is difficult to determine where the photograph ends and the painting begins. Was that drip on the wall there for the photograph or was it added with paint after processing? Perhaps a visit to the gallery might offer clarification to this delightful illusion.

Morgan Slade - Tiger Balm

It is as though the mascot headed, bikini clad creatures that inhabit the picture plane have been imbued with supernatural powers enabling control over the painted elements at their disposal. The newly christened mythos of this imagery belongs to Morgan Slade with an ambiguity that insures all answers remain with the artist.

Morgan Slade - Alis Bunny
