Angela Oaks – A Rainbow of Emotions

March 12, 2013, New York, NY – NOWhere Limited Contemporary Art – This Thursday evening, March 14th, “A Rainbow of Emotions,” a solo exhibit by Angela Oaks marks the seventh show at NOWhere Limited’s “All Roads Project.”

For one night only from 6 – 8:30pm, ten new mixed media works by Angela Oaks will be on view at All Roads’ twenty square foot display on 24th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues in New York City. Links to buy and browse these works are now: here

Artist Statement
“I see the processes of making a poem and making a painting as very similar. I often use text in my paintings and always try to induce synesthesia in my attempts to mash-up music, text and images. I have a 14-year-old son who would help me a lot in the studio when he was younger, he and his friends. So I think my work can rightly be characterized as childish because in many cases I would allow the children to do the work itself. It can best be described as a collaboration. Call and response. I also like to use weird and abject materials along with paint, such as dirt and glitter. The impermanence of these materials recommends them to me. What I love most about art is the possessing of it, just the heaps of paintings hung salon style on the walls. I need that.”

Conceived with a “waste not want not” mentality, artists Elisha Sarti and Scott Lickstein, co-founders of NOWhere Limited, converted their SUV into Chelsea’s smallest art space.
