During Art Basel in Miami, Marilyn Manson opened his first art show in the United States. “Trismegistus” is a collaborative effort between Galerie Brigitte Schenk and the newly christened 101 Exhibit in Miami’s design district.
The exhibit is comprised of more than twenty paintings produced over the past eight years. Manson has been painting for twenty years or more so unlike many “crossover” artists his endeavor registers as more than a passionate hobby. The content of the work is decidedly dark but hints of humor are a welcome entry into the multidisciplinary portfolio. Marilyn Manson paints late at night, away from the distractions of being Marilyn Manson. This may be the best way to explore the deeper aspects of this innovative provocateur.
