Nathan Spoor employs a technique known as Suggestivism to achieve a meditative state from which he makes contact with a “world” located in the unconscious. From this state he emerges and shares his journeys with paint.
In the piece above I can’t help but be reminded of my favorite bedtime book as a child, “Goodnight Moon”. It’s got that feeling, empty space with a hint of the other. Spoor’s work is not always such. His imagery tends to operate in a self sustained symbiosis.
Nathan Spoor, along with Dan May and Brandi Milne will be showing at Copro Nason, the show opens June 7th.
