A series of photographs from Yiorgos Kordakis is the current show at M+B in Los Angeles. “Global Summer” is an exhibition of thirteen images captured at diverse water spots in India, Lebanon, Denmark, France, Greece and the United States.
Yiorgos Kordakis is interested in the basic human allure to water. Here is the word direct from the artist.
“The water is like a giant magnet, an irresistible attraction. Sometimes I think that maybe there is something even deeper in our relation to water. Maybe it is the fact that in it we feel closer to our nature since we wear as little as possible, being almost like we were on the day nature gave birth to us. Or, maybe, it is the fact that we all spend our first nine months living in a cozy, liquid environment, traveling in our own personal sea.” Yiorgos Kordakis
The Polaroid film that Kordakis utilizes in his large format camera has been recently discontinued. These may be some of the last photos processed in this manner.
